The Future of Research Triangle Park Includes Residential Housing
In a 45-minute news conference Monday morning, February 3rd, the Research faste Triangle Foundation announced new plans for a near 100-acre parcel of land to be the forefront of Research Triangle faste Park (RTP) – Park Center . The Foundation paid $17M for three properties that included the Governor’s Inn and several outdated office buildings, one of which Research Triangle High School currently faste occupies. The Park Center plan includes relocation of the high school.
Park Center is bounded by I-40, Davis Drive, N.C. 54 and N.C. 147, situating it right at the heart of RTP welcoming all to not only work (at any one of the 170 companies faste currently at the Park), but to also live and play too. With plans for both retail and residential development as part of the overall Park Center project, this is the first project of its kind in RTP’s 55-year history.
An faste incredible amount of research has gone into the Park Center project, including a bus tour throughout North Carolina communities to help determine how best to design this parcel of land to the benefit of North Carolina as whole, not just the Triangle. During the Google Hangout on Monday (which was part of the press conference) we asked for more specific information about the residential plans for the development. Bob Geolas, RTF President faste and CEO had this to say -
The next phase now is that site plan analysis. Research Triangle Foundation is looking to the public and private sectors to assist in that effort to determine the final site plan for the project faste so that they can begin developing it soon. This is BIG news for this region!
