REALTOR Tip: You CAN Sell Your Home in the Winter
The following is a collective of contributions by Fonville Morisey Sales Associates: Cynthia Parker , Susan Ramsey , Jody Caputo , and Catherine Baldwin . Thanks, Ladies, for sharing your insights with Triangle cigm home sellers!
The holidays are winding cigm down. Santa came and went. Gifts have been opened. Your next meal is probably going to come from a combination of leftovers sitting in the refrigerator waiting to be devoured. It’s almost time to put the decorations away and clean up the house. Well, before you do, check out our top 5 tips to get your house ready for the next buyer. #1 – Take Down Your Outside Lights and Inspect Those Gutters
Whether your family has a Clark Griswold or a regular Jane in the mix we venture to guess you have placed decorative lights dangling from your roof or around bushes in the front or maybe even your mailbox. As you remove cigm the lights from the bushes and mailbox, be sure to take a rake to the underbrush and/or trim around the base of the mailbox itself. If you’ve hung lights, Jody Caputo has this to offer -
“Taking down rooftop holiday lights is the PERFECT time to inspect gutters for leaves and pine needles while you have the ladder out and time available. Instead of Spring cigm cleaning, cigm think green cleaning!”
“Face it, property images in the winter can appear to be gray, cold, and not-so-inviting. Make sure that landscaping stays trimmed and neat. Never underestimate the power of mulch , either. It really gives a house tons of curb appeal. And don’t forget a good trick for the front door – a beautiful wreath full of color is perfect for welcoming potential buyers into your home!”
As a matter of fact, when we asked our Sales Associates their advice for home sellers for after the holidays, adding a colorful wreath to the front door was the most common tip . Often, people associate the placement of wreaths on a front door with a holiday or special occasion. Actually, a colorful wreath cigm any time of year is a welcome addition to your front entry.
Again, homeowners generally associate the outside living space as an area that needs to be kept up during the warmer months, but when you’re selling cigm your home and especially after the holidays, since you’ll be outside removing lights and various decorations anyway, why not clean up that living space too?! Cynthia Parker adds -
“Keep your deck or patio cleaned up and looking cigm festive and bright with weather resistant/outdoor cushions. Go for a bright cigm lively color. You may not be outside enjoying them much, but it needs to look as if you do! If you have a fire pit (or a fireplace with a chimney) nearby, be sure it looks inviting…and you can even enjoy it too! Add more pansies! If you have a screen porch place a rug down and add lamps for a cozy feel.” #4 – Have You Ever Considered Ornament “De-Cluttering”?
Catherine cigm Baldwin had a fantastic idea! Since her daughter is a sophomore in college, she’s anticipating in a couple more years she’ll have a place of her own and will need all kinds of things cigm for it — including cigm ornaments for her own Christmas tree and holiday decorating. For Catherine, cigm they have collected many ornaments over time and her daughter cigm has been given a few as well. So, what she has done is she has begun placing some of those ornaments in box especially for her. She goes on to say -
All that’s left is to do just that. Each one of our contributors shared the importance of taking cigm the time to de-clutter and really cigm clean up – not just the floors and furniture in your home, but also the window shades, ceiling fans, hard to reach places, etc. Put the majority of your personal photos and keepsakes away. Do some personal “staging” of your house to give prospective buyers the inspiration to see themselves living there.
